The Spanish American Organization Scholarship

It is the Donor’s preference that the scholarship/award be given to a student who enhances the social, economic, or cultural diversity of the campus community. Therefore, it is the donor’s intent to consider highly qualified students from a wide variety of backgrounds and who will bring to the College unique life experiences and perspectives. Factors such as a demonstrated commitment to advancing and advocating for diversity and inclusion, through involvement with established organizations, volunteer work, academic pursuits or similar evidence of commitment will be considered. The recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours in the Fall and Spring Semesters and shall have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. A short essay (one page, double spaced) on the applicant’s community/civic accomplishments and future goals is required. The scholarship may be renewable if the recipient maintains at least a 2.0 or better cumulative grade point average. Maximum award will be four consecutive semesters. Preference also will be given to a recipient who demonstrates financial need. The recipient of this scholarship shall be selected by the Spanish American Organization with approval of the Office of Financial Aid and the Foundation Executive Director. The scholarship recipient will receive one ticket to the Toledo Mudhens game for the Annual Spanish American Organization Latino Day at the Park. Recipients are encouraged to attend.
